About this Cause
As the only organization in the US dedicated to Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer (ILC), LBCA’s mission is to make all who are touched by ILC aware of its unique characteristics and the critical need for more ILC research; to be the go-to source for information on ILC studies, clinical trials and educational tools; to foster partnerships among patients, scientists, clinicians, and breast cancer organizations to increase dialogue about ILC and research advocacy; and to fund vital ILC research. This December we are honoring the memory of our Board member Deb Mueller, who was tragically and suddenly taken from all of us by metastatic lobular breast cancer. Deb was sweet, smart, and a force on our fledgling board of directors. She gave her all, determined to turn her shock at her own ILC diagnosis – and the corresponding shock of finding out how little research attention lobular breast cancer has received – into action that would change this for the better, for all lobular breast cancer patients as fast as she could to help make this happen. In honoring Deb’s memory, several LBCA Board members and friends intend to take up the baton and continue to work fast to make this happen –by running (or cheering on runners in the San Antonio half marathon road race on December 3rd) to raise funds for LBCA and support all that LBCA does to raise awareness about ILC and support more ILC research. Please join us in honoring Deb and helping LBCA make faster strides towards a world in which lobular breast cancer is found early, treated effectively, and eradicated permanently.
